Concepts Of Biology By Sylvia Mader
Earn 2% eBay Bucks on qualifying purchases! Backed by eBay Buyer Protection Program. Terms and Conditions apply.
(In-Stock)
Instructors consistently ask for a textbook that helps students understand the relationships between the main concepts of biology, so they are not learning facts about biology in isolation. Mader’s Concepts of Biology was developed to fill this void. Organized around the main themes of biology, Concepts of Biology guides students to think conceptually about biology and the world around them. Just as the levels of biological organization flow from one level to the next, themes and topics in Concepts of Biology are tied to one another throughout the chapter, and between the chapters and parts. Combined with Dr. Mader’s hallmark writing style, exceptional art program, and pedagogical framework, difficult concepts become easier to understand and visualize, allowing students to focus on understanding how the concepts are related. The integration of text and the digital world are now complete with McGraw-Hill's ConnectPlus and LearnSmart. ConnectPlus allows you assign content from the text by Learning

Chemistry (Ferguson's Careers in Focus)
Get free shipping on orders over $25!
(In-Stock)
"Longman Science 11-14" offers an approach to Key Stage 3 with separate textbooks for biology, chemistry and physics. It covers the revised National Curriculum requirements for Science up to and including Level 7, making it suitable for teachers who wish to teach the three sciences as separate subjects. It includes all the material needed for pupils taking the Common Entrance Examinations. There is a separate Teachers' Guide to accompany each of the textbooks. These show the links between the three books, thereby enabling teachers to have a co-ordinated course. To encourage students to think about experimental design in the spirit of New Attainment Target 1, a series of open-ended "explorations" has been included in each book. There are suggestions or instructions for a large number of practical activities which should enhance laboratory skills. Social, economic, environmental and technological issues are introduced through a series of background reading passages and questions in each text.

An Introduction to Methods and Models in Ecology, Evolution, and Conservation Biology
Get free shipping on orders over $25!
(In-Stock)
This unique textbook introduces undergraduate students to quantitative models and methods in ecology, behavioral ecology, evolutionary biology, and conservation. It explores the core concepts shared by these related fields using tools and practical skills such as experimental design, generating phylogenies, basic statistical inference, and persuasive grant writing. And contributors use examples from their own cutting-edge research, providing diverse views to engage students and broaden their understanding. This is the only textbook on the subject featuring a collaborative "active learning" approach that emphasizes hands-on learning. Every chapter has exercises that enable students to work directly with the material at their own pace and in small groups. Each problem includes data presented in a rich array of formats, which students use to answer questions that illustrate patterns, principles, and methods. Topics range from Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium and population effective size to optimal foraging and indices of biodiversity. The book also includes a comprehensive glossary. In addition to the editors, the contributors are James Beck, Cawas Behram Engineer, John Gaskin, Luke Harmon, Jon Hess, Jason Kolbe, Kenneth H. Kozak, Robert J. Robertson, Emily Silverman, Beth Sparks-Jackson, and Anton Weisstein.Provides experience with hypothesis testing, experimental design, and scientific reasoning Covers core quantitative models and methods in ecology, behavioral ecology, evolutionary biology, and conservation Turns "discussion sections" into "thinking labs" Professors: A supplementary Instructor's Manual is available for this book. It is restricted to teachers using the text in courses. For information on how to obtain a copy, refer to: http://press.princeton.edu/class_use/solutions.html

DIVE Biology Instructional CD-ROM
Fantastic prices with ease & comfort of Amazon.com!
(In-Stock)
DIVE Biology is a complete digital curriculum that teaches every lesson on a digital blackboard. It can be used as a stand-alone curriculum by using our Free Internet Textbook to complete reading assignments. If you prefer a traditional textbook you can use Apologia, Bob Jones or just about any other publisher. We have a reading syllabus for each textbook so you know exactly which pages to read for each assignment. There are typically two to three lessons and a lab every week. For each lesson, the student completes their reading assignment and defines the assigned terms. Next they watch a lecture which teaches each lesson step by step. The lecture is only about 20-30 minutes long and focuses on the complex concepts. During the lecture the student works interactively, taking notes and working problems with Dr. Shormann. After the lecture, a Review Questions worksheet is completed. Video solutions which work out every problem step by step are used to grade the homework and ensure understanding of all concepts. A weekly video lab teaches each lab step by step. The video is zoomed in so the student see exactly what is happening. The student works interactively by taking notes and recording observations, calculations, etc in their Lab Manual. All of the required AP labs are included on the DIVE Biology CD. The video labs are designed to be completed without the use of lab equipment. However, a lab kit is available for those who wish to do the labs hands-on. Every 8 weeks there is a an exam. This is an important part of preparing students for college exams that are infrequent and cover a large amount of material. Watch demo lessons and a video about how to use DIVE Science on our website at www.DiveIntoMath.com or call us 936-372-9216.

Basic Chemistry Concepts and Exercises
Get free shipping on orders over $25!
(In-Stock)
Chemistry can be a daunting subject for the uninitiated, and all too often, introductory textbooks do little to make students feel at ease with the complex subject matter. Basic Chemistry Concepts and Exercises brings the wisdom of John Kenkel’s more than 30 years of teaching experience to communicate the fundamentals of chemistry in a practical, down-to-earth manner. Using conversational language and logically assembled graphics, the book concisely introduces each topic without overwhelming students with unnecessary detail. Example problems and end-of-chapter questions emphasize repetition of concepts, preparing students to become adept at the basics before they progress to an advanced general chemistry course. Enhanced with visualization techniques such as the first chapter’s mythical microscope, the book clarifies challenging, abstract ideas and stimulates curiosity into what can otherwise be an overwhelming topic. Topics discussed in this reader-friendly text include: Properties and structure of matter Atoms, molecules, and compounds The Periodic Table Atomic weight, formula weights, and moles Gases and solutions Chemical equilibrium Acids, bases, and pH Organic chemicals The appendix contains answers to the homework exercises so students can check their work and receive instant feedback as to whether they have adequately grasped the concepts before moving on to the next section. Designed to help students embrace chemistry not with trepidation, but with confidence, this solid preparatory text forms a firm foundation for more advanced chemistry training.
