From there the field is divided vertically into zones 1, 2 and 3, with 3 being the outside areas. The same concept goes for the area around the goal for goalkeepers. To aid visual learners, Meharg uses a Subbuteo board to divide the field visually and to show each of the steps in detail. The eight steps begin with defense in the attacking quarter, followed by defense in the midfield and into the circle. Step 4 deals with defensive penalty corners. Step 5 and 6 focus on attack out of the defensive quarter and attacking in the midfield. The final two steps are the attack into the circle and attacking penalty corners. Each step is carefully broken down and analyzed by Meharg.
