This is by far the most complete and most authoritative translation of the work of Marco Polo (1254-1324). It is based on a manuscript found by Sir Percival David (1892-1964) in the Catedral de Toledo in Spain where it had lain forgotten for 130 years. That manuscript was a copy written in 1795 and was in turn based on a manuscript written in about 1400. The manuscript in Cathedral de Toledo is in Latin. Arthur Christopher Moule (1873-1957) painstakingly transcribed it into type written text. He was so careful to be faithful to the original that he even transcribed meaningless punctuation marks. The Latin text was published as Volume 2 in 1935, even though it was published first. Volume One followed three years later and was published in 1938. A. C. Moule took 17 different versions of the Marco Polo manuscripts. He then combined them into one document by putting into italics those words that are not found in the other versions. Then, on the outside margins and sometimes in the footnotes, he uses a code to show where and in which version the words in italics can be found. He was careful to note the differences. Every word that is different from the words of Ramusio or Yule is put in italics. In addition, there is a chart showing where the page numbers to this work are different from the page numbers of the other translations. Thus, a reader looking at a page of this book can quickly find the equivalent page in the Yule work.

Also, in the 1970s, Dr. Joseph published evidence that intelligence, learning, and memory could be enhanced and that physiological, perceptual, visual, behavioral, and cognitive functioning could be altered or enhanced by varying the environment, and further demonstrated that sex differences in physiology, learning, memory, cognition, and behavior, could be altered and reversed by manipulating exposure to testosterone and estrogen (Joseph et al., 1978; Joseph 1979; Joseph & Gallagher, 1980). Subsequently, Dr. Joseph continued to make and publish major discoveries, published best selling scholarly texts which received the highest praise by a variety of scientific journals, and advanced and published major theories in the biological and evolutionary sciences which were immediately adopted by other scientists. Aerial refueling aircraft are extremely important force-multiplying assets for any self-respecting military force. They allow fighters and other aircraft to remain aloft for hours on end in order to accomplish far-ranging missions. The mightiest military in the world, the US Air Force (USAF), has many aerial refueling assets. These include KC-135E Stratotankers, aircraft that are now quite aged and in need of replacement. On February 24th 2011, the USAF declared the Boeing KC-767 as the winner of a competition for new aerial refueling aircraft. Based on the Boeing 767-200LRF, this aircraft will be called KC-46A in US service. It features an improved refueling boom taken from the KC-10, and this NewGen Tanker also borrows the cockpit display from the Boeing 787. The awarded contract calls for 18 KC-46 planes to be delivered by 2017. Quick off the mark, Dragon Warbirds now brings an exciting 1/400 scale model of Boeing?s NewGen tanker. As would be expected, the model makes use of Warbirds? existing Boeing 767 molds, but it adds all the requisite parts to make the latest air-to-air refueling craft. Even in the apostolic period, which is regarded by many as the Church’s golden age, there were serious crises coming both from the outside, as in 1 Peter, and from the inside, as in Jude and 2 Peter. The three short New Testament letters treated in 1 Peter, Jude, and 2 Peter illustrate the problems early Christians faced, as well as the rhetorical techniques and theological concepts with which they combated those problems. In the first part of this volume, Donald Senior views 1 Peter as written from Rome in Peter’s name to several churches in northern Asia Minor—present-day Turkey—in the latter part of the first century C.E. The new Christians addressed in 1 Peter found themselves aliens and exiles in the wider Greco-Roman society and suffered a kind of social ostracism. But they are given a marvelous theological vision of who they have become through their baptism and pastoral encouragement to stand firm. They are shown how to take a missionary stance toward the outside world by giving the witness of a holy and blameless life to offset the slander and ignorance of the non-Christian majority and possibly even to lead them to glorify God on the day of judgment. In the second part of this volume, Daniel Harrington interprets Jude and 2 Peter as confronting crises in the late first century that were perpetrated by Christian teachers who are described polemically as intruders in Jude and as false teachers in 2 Peter. In confronting the crises within their churches, the authors appeal frequently to the Old Testament and to early summaries of Christian faith. While Jude uses other Jewish traditions, 2 Peter includes most of the text of Jude as well as many distinctively Greek terms and concepts. It is clear that for the authors, despite their different social settings, what was at stake was the struggle for the faith.
