Model Airplanes ? This Hawkeye Model Airplane is a scale model of the original Grumman E-2C Hawkeye USN model aircraft. The E-2C Hawkeye Model Airplane is crafted from wood and is an impressive aviation gift. Our Hawkeye model aircraft arrives fully assembled and includes a display stand. Model scale is 1/48, with about a 20" wingspan and 15" length. The E-2 Hawkeye is an aircraft carrier-based tactical Airborne Early Warning (AEW) aircraft and is used for missions including surface surveillance coordination, strike and interceptor control, search and rescue guidance and communications relay. It was manufactured by Grumman Aerospace Corporation and Northrop Grumman. In 1964, after replacing the E-1, the Hawkeye has been the eyes of the fleet and has served the US Navy around the world. The E-2Cs has provided the command and control for successful operations during the Persian Gulf War. The original E-2C Hawkeye became operational in 1973 and has been through several upgrade programs since then. The E-2C Hawkeye has a maximum speed of 374 mph and a range of 200 nautical miles. It has a crew of five, including equipment operators. The primary users and operators of the E-2C Hawkeyes are the United States Navy, French Navy, Israeli Air Force and the Japan Air Self-Defense Force. C057 comprises a complete upper hull, and all the detail launching gear castings, pre-drilled main launch cylinders and all other materials to make a complete bridgelayer. This Band of Brothers C-47 is signed by William Wild Bill Guarnere one of the original 140 members of Easy Company 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment 101st Airborne Division. William Guarnere joined Easy Company to fight in WW II. He made his first combat jump on D-Day as part of the Allied Invasion of France. Guarnere earned the nickname Wild Bill and lived up to it; he was terror on the battlefield and had a reckless attitude towards the Germans. In his recent autobiography entitled Beyond Band of Brothers; Memoirs of Major Richard Winters Richard Winters refers to two men in Easy Company as being natural killers : Ronald Spiers and Bill Guarnere. When making those statements about both men Winters says it in a way that reflects respect not in a negative manner. Guarnere received the Silver Star for combat during the Brecourt manner Assault on D-Day and was later decorated with two Bronze Stars and two Purple Hearts making him one of the only two Easy Company members (the other being Lynn Compton) to be awarded the Silver Star throughout the duration of the war while a member of Easy.
