We have only one beef with the R3 SL: The stock seat collar. It's a lightweight & touchy item. If you overtorque the collar, it has the nasty habit of shattering. Unlike other bikes where overtorquing causes the seat collar bolt to break, in the case of the R3 SL the whole collar breaks. The outer diameter of the R3 SL where the collar sits is a funny size, and not many collars fit it. But Salsa makes this lovely collar in the perfect size (30.0mm ID). It weighs 34g, it's wicked strong, and its stainless bolts won't corrode.If you've broken your stock collar, this is what you want to use as a replacement. Or if you own an R3 SL and you haven't broken your collar, this is what you want to have handy. Be prepared.
