New for 2010 The Spectre 2 is DMM's premium workhorse wire gate carabiner and uses the same design characteristics that we developed for the super light Phantom series of carabiners, but the Spectre 2 is a touch more versatile - it has more metal to cope with bolt damage and will be slightly easier to handle and clip in adverse conditions. The Spectre 2 is full size and large enough to be used with gloves for winter climbing. The carabiner is very strong, easy to handle, very safe and remarkably light. The Spectre 2 comes in at 32g with a 9kN gate open strength and a well rounded 8.5mm rope bearing radius. The Spectre 2 includes all the usual DMM refinements such as a shrouded nose, an even tension gate and a well rumbled finish to remove any sharp edges or clipping lines. It behaves very well on all webbings from 8mm dyneema to 16mm nylon and resists cross loading brilliantly. DMM was the first company to develop and manufacture I-beam carabiners and it is this experience along with their investment in creating the best aluminum forging plant in Europe that has enabled them to make this biner so light and so versatile. The wire gate keeps weight to a minimum, whilst providing an easy clip with minimum chance of it freezing or gunging up.
