The patch knife was a knife used by muzzleloaders to trim patches. Today it is a generic term for a small knife with a leather sheath that holds the blade and handle. Only an inch of the handle is protruding to grasp with your fingers. Sometimes these are sewn to your bag or powderhorn strap but this sheath has a belt loop that is riveted on. The sheath is full leather and the wooden beads can be easily removed if you don't want them. The blade is 4 1/2" (11.5cm) of Stainless steel, I'm sorry I don't have any information on what grade of SS. With the sheath the total length is 9". The blade is full tang with 3 rivets holding on a wood handle, looks like curly maple or burl but being from Pakistan it is probably a similar local wood. This is real wood and can have distinct characteristics that will vary from knife to knife including knots. It will handle almost any kind of game and has a lot more class than a lockblade knife. The knife comes reasonably sharp out of the box but will need some stonework. The notch at the bottom of the blade near the handle is called a spanish notch, and has a lot of rumors behind its uses including to strip sinew from tendons for sewing. The knife length can vary up to 1/8" bigger than shown, the blade is a typical stainless steel color like you would find on a pistol.
