The album features guest performances by rapper/producer Aesop Rock plus members of the Strokes, Mountain Goats, and more. Thunder Thighs is being self-released on Kimya's own Great Crap Factory label. This 2 LP set is pressed on gold vinyl and includes a digital download card.''Kimya Dawson may have the most earnest voice in indie rock.'' - SPIN (7/10)''Thunder Thighs is a mix of the infectiously fun (Dawson raps about Judy Blume in The Library) and the achingly sad (Walk Like Thunder, a mournful yet determined 10-minute epic about the death of her friends). Fans won't be disappointed by the release'' - METROMIX''...it's good to have her back.'' - FILTER''Thunder Thighs' guest list is so vast that she probably needed to get a few more cases of Jameson to keep the party going. Nikolai Fraiture from the Strokes, John Darnielle from the Mountain Goats, a couple of weirdly named choirs, and Aesop Rock are sharing the sound space with her.'' - BROWARD PALM BEACH NEW TIMES''Although the personal touch of Kimya's delicate strumming and the crackling of her soft voice still sit forefront, the backbone is a more mature solid arrangement that supports her powerful poetry.'' - GLIDE MAGAZINE | | SEE IT |

(In-Stock) This 24-track, hour-long CD actually combines two exotica LPs from the late 1950s onto one disc: Ethel Azama's Exotic Dreamers and Tak Shindo's Mganga! Azama's album occupies the first half of the disc, and is the less impressive of the pair. It does have many of the elements that exotic collectors want and expect from their finds: quasi-Asian plucked notes and gongs, cocktail lounge piano, glowing vibraphone notes, Latin-influenced drumming, jungle bird noises, and lyrical odes to the leisurely good life. Azama's no more than an adequate singer, though, sounding as if she'd be far more at home on a whitebread jazz diet than something more, well, exotic. Indeed, her perkiness verges on the annoying on "Happy Talk, " though that's not one of the album's more typical songs. Considerably better, and more varied though still squarely in the exotic idiom, is Shindo's primarily instrumental Mganga! If you like your exotica with the kitchen sink thrown in and some spookiness alongside the cheery lava light, this coul | | SEE IT |

(In-Stock) (2-LP Vinyl) Prolific Pixies' frontman Black Francis composed a soundtrack to The Golem for the 51st San Francisco International Film Festival in 2008. The Golem is a 1920's silent film version of a popular story set in a 16th-century Jewish ghetto. Originally only 500 copies were released as a 5xCD set comprising the live performance, studio recordings, and DVD. Later on a stripped down one-hour 'rock opera' was released on a single disc but now, The Golem is finally here and truly alive - on a double vinyl LP. | | SEE IT |
