 | Fantastic prices with ease & comfort of Amazon.com! (In-Stock) 2009 digitally remastered reissue of this album from the dirty-minded (but beloved) English comedian. Although remembered by most for his hugely successful TV shows and the numerous much-loved sketches and characters they spawned, Benny Hill also had a lifelong involvement in music, limericks, witty rhymes and suchlike, which this fantastic album sees him explore to the full. Bolstered by the presence and raised public awareness afforded by 1971's Christmas UK #1 single, in the title track, this LP proved very popular upon its release and as still every bit as amusing almost 40 years later. Many will be familiar with poor old Ernie's tale, but also explored here are the exploits of other Hill creations (principally of the female variety, naturally), alongside some hugely clever wordplay numbers ("Broken Hearted Lover's Stew" in particular is quite astounding) and some of his spoken word and dialogue pieces (performed in front of a live audience). The tiny Dutch and Belgian armies pulverized in battle have surrendered. Great Britain rescues most of the soldiers in the BEF but their heavy weapons and vehicles remain on the beaches of Dunkirk. The island nation begins to re-arm but for now is out of the fight. The proud French Army with many regiments tracing an unbroken lineage back to the 1600s suffers the most catastrophic defeat of modern times before France surrenders. | COMPARE PRICES |
