The Cascades Shy Girl Original Valiant 1963 45 Doo Wop

This footage was originally aired nationwide on PBS and commemorates the fiftieth anniversary of doo wop. From The Platters to the Cleftones to the Flamingos, DOO WOP 50 brings back the greatest artists to perform their most memorable hits once more. Filmed live at Pittsburgh's Benedum Center for the Performing Arts, this celebratory two-evening gala was hosted by singer Jerry Butler.

This is a good starting point for the curious, since all the basics are here in the original hit versions: "The Great Pretender, " "Earth Angel, " "I Only Have Eyes for You, " "Goodnight Sweetheart, Goodnight, " and, thrown in for good measure, a few tracks that even vocal group scholars wouldn't mind hearing again by the Marvelows, the Duprees, the Jive Five, and the Earls.
